Technical Q&As: Device Drivers
Mac OS X supports 10/100 Base-T, 1000 Base-T, and (in Mac OS X version 10.2.4 and later with an appropriate Ethernet card) Jumbo Frame Ethernet. Developers use Ethernet to take advantage of existing Ethernet networks or to enable networking at higher speeds than may be available using wireless networks. With the I/O Kit, Apple's object-oriented driver development framework, developers can create drivers for Ethernet network adapters.
